Driveway

Avoid houses which share a common driveway or a driveway entrance. It can work out just fine or not, depending on the number of potential vehicles involved and the persons sharing with, factors which you will not have control over.

Ideally, driveways should be level. Avoid driveways that are steep going in or out, especially in the northern areas where ice may become a problem. Minimize any chance of an unattended vehicle rolling out into the street or into your garage or someone sliding out of control on a sheet of ice.

If trash collection takes place out on the street, a steep driveway may pose extra work. Driveways akin to a skateboard ramp or a sled run may make the weekly trash bin roll out a chore to be dreaded. Who needs that?
